What is Leadership Albuquerque?
Leadership Albuquerque brings together emerging leaders from across the community to participate in the projects and interactions that result in a shared vision for the greater Albuquerque community. We do this through delivering an 8-month program to 40 mid to senior level executives from the private, public and voluntary sectors of our community.
Goals of Leadership Albuquerque:
- To identify leaders in business, government and the community and assist them in expanding their leadership skills to further their career development, as well as facilitate exploratory thinking into voluntary civic responsibility.
- To provide these men and women with a practical, in-depth understanding of major community issues facing the four-county greater Albuquerque area.
- To facilitate access between Leadership Albuquerque class members and the current leadership of the community.
- To enhance the network among leaders from diverse backgrounds and interests.
Structure of the Program:
The program begins with a two-day retreat in August. From September through May, participants spend one day together each month in various locations around the city. The program ends with a graduation ceremony in June. The program is driven by what we refer to as the Pillars of Leadership. They are as follows:
Leadership Development – Leadership Albuquerque is dedicated to preparing executives with the tried and true skills associated with leadership as well as the exploring emerging thinking related to community leadership.
Issues Colloquium – This pillar relates specifically to the education of the class participants regarding our community’s issues (challenges/hopes) and an in-depth look at what is working in the community. The topics for each program day are theme centered and include such topics as Education, Healthcare, State and Local Government, Economic Development and Law and Order to name a few.
Civic Engagement- During the program year, the participants work to deliver a community service product or service which contributes to the sustainable life and health of our community.
How Much Does it Cost?
The tuition is $2,500 per participant. A limited number of scholarships are available on an as needed basis.
